A MACCLESFIELD entrepreneur has launched an awards ceremony to shine a spotlight on the work of the region’s charities.
Phoebe Benta, director of events management company Eureka Events, on Lansdowne Street, is the brainchild of the North West Charity Awards.
She is establishing the event to highlight the work being carried out by the 1,500 charities in Cheshire, Cumbria, Greater Manchester, Merseyside and Lancashire.
The aim is to honour and recognise charities, individuals and not-for-profit organisations for their outstanding contributions to the community in an event specifically dedicated to the region.
Phoebe said: “Having organised numerous charity events over the years, I have witnessed first hand so many stories of selfless individuals working tirelessly to improve life in their communities, and up until now this has seldom been recognised outside of London.
“By holding a charity awards ceremony dedicated to work carried out in the North West, we can raise awareness of it in the community in which it is happening.
“North West businesses that support local charities can also enter the awards, with a category dedicated to corporate partnerships.”
Applicants must submit their entries by Friday June 16. Visit northwestcharity awards.co.uk for more information.
Entries will be judged by a panel of experts within the charity sector.
The awards ceremony will take place at the Midland Hotel in Manchester on Wednesday, October 11.
