King’s Girls march on to regional athletic finals

KING’S Girls’ Division athletes have qualified for the regional athletics finals for the 20th successive year.
King’s finished joint first with Sandbach High School n the county round of the English School’s Athletics Association Cup to qualify for the Regional Finals in Warrington on June 12.
The King’s team of 12 athletes from Years 7 and 8 competed in 24 events, each competitor performing in two events. The placings were converted to points and added up to give a team score. Several of the King’s gained personal bests and scored highly with captain Isobel Moores and Claudia Rodrigez Martinez the top scorers.
Isobel Moores said: “We are a team, no stars, no individuals but a team who support each other and enjoy working hard together.”
King’s Girls’ Division Physical Education teacher Lisa Booker who coaches the team, said: “The girls have a winning combination of talent and determination and have worked hard to win.
“With every passing year the girls become even more determined to maintain the school’s winning streak.”
King’s Girls Division Year 7 athletics team also won the Macclesfield and District Track and Field Minors Championships with several girls selected to represent Macclesfield at the County Track and Field Championships on June 21.
