Bridgend bidding to bag Tesco funding
Special thanks for care home staff during Carers’ Week
THE Bridgend Centre is bidding to bag a massive cash boost from the Tesco Bags of Help scheme.
The registered charity, on Palmerston Street, Bollington, is one of three groups on the shortlist for the supermarket’s community funding in Macclesfield.
It sees grants of £4,000, £2,000 and £1,000 – all raised from the 5p bag levy – being awarded to local community projects.
Shoppers at the store can vote for who they think should take away CARERS at Prestbury Beaumont Care Home in Prestbury carers were made to feel extra special as the home celebrated Carers’ Week.
Staff at the homes thanked carers for their hard work, commitment and care.
Managers say that the care home has wonderful carers who look after people with a range of residential and nursing the top grant throughout July and August.
Organisers at the Bridgend Centre want the money to help improve and extend the outdoor space to the rear of the centre, next to the River Dean.
They also hope to have a greenhouse to grow edible and decorative plants, as well as plant wildflowers to encourage butterflies and other insects.
The charity aims to create a warm and friendly place which breaks down social barriers and helps needs. They say the carers deliver a vital role to residents, enabling them to be as independent as possible and enriching the lives of the people and families they care for.
To celebrate the week, the home rewarded all the staff and promoted the importance of their role and the impact this has on the team.
The home also received a hamper of Cadbury’s people of all ages and backgrounds who are feeling isolated or excluded.
Various groups and classes take place every week, or people can just call for a cuppa and a natter.
Centre manager Rebecca Lea said: “We are absolutely thrilled to have been shortlisted for the Tesco Bags of Help Initiative.
“Having this funding will improve the outdoor space to the rear of Bridgend and will help to improve the quality of life of people who use the centre.” chocolates as a thank-you to all the carers working there from Barchester Healthcare, the care provider that runs the home.
