YOUR THEATRE GROUP
Name: Make Believe Performing Arts Group. What do you do?: We provide expert tuition in singing, acting and dancing for children aged three to 18, with 65 places available. Where do the sessions take place?: All Hallows Catholic College, Brooklands Avenue, Macclesfield, SK11 8LB. How long has the society been running for?: It was founded by Joel Kern in 2004 with schools in and around London, Australia and most recently Manchester, teaching youngsters the basic skills in the performing arts. We opened in Macclesfield recently, on Saturday, June 3. Where and when do you meet?: Our classes run on Saturday mornings from 10am to 1pm at All Hallows Catholic College. Have you had any recent highlights as a theatre group?: The Macclesfield group is new. However, we have had a raft of talent coming out of the Make Believe talent agency, with youngsters landing roles in West End musicals, TV shows and adverts in other parts of the country. Principal Brad Snelling brings with him a wealth of experience, having performed in and produced shows at some of the UK’s most prestigious venues including The Lowry, Glasgow Kings Theatre, Birmingham Alexandra Theatre and Buxton Opera House. He has also created and produced shows for Smooth Radio and Real Radio, and worked in collaboration with The National Trust for Scotland creating the UK’s first 80s music festival and as festival director for other events. What do you hope to achieve from the group?: Our ethos is that all children from every socio-economic background should be able to enjoy performing arts classes without class standards being compromised. We are really looking forward to seeing the school grow and seeing the children’s confidence in their abilities grow with it. For children six to 18 years old: 10am - 1pm for (an hour of each discipline) £64.50 per month. For children three to five years old: 10am - 11.30am (30 minutes of each discipline) £44.50 per month.
