Kerridge see off Mossley – and escaped bull!

- ADAM BANKS

AFTER a thrilling win last week Kerridge continued their winning ways at home against Mossley with a 148-run victory.

Mossley elected to bowl first and took a wicket in the first two balls when Harbige edged behind for 0 off Turner.

Turner then struck again bowling Capper for 17. Ste Regan followed almost immediately also for 17 edging behind off Brown. James Knight and Adam Banks took the score to 69-4 before the latter was run out for seven.

This was to be the last wicket to fall as Luke Wild joined Knight at the crease and this was to be the start of an unbroken stand of 228 allowing Kerridge to declare on 297-4 in 34 overs.

Both batsmen played beautifully, playing to all parts with 29 boundaries and 14 maximums between them, and at one stage left the opposing skipper with the problem of nobody wanting to bowl at them. Wild finishing on 127no and Knight on 111no.

Mossley, facing a mountain to climb, were rescued briefly when a rogue bullock from a nearby field had broken loose, invading the pitch and charging at several players!

When the players finally took to the pitch only skipper Cresswell (43) and wicketkeeper Wright (38) kept the scoreboard ticking but couldn’t mirror Kerridge’s performance with the bat, slumping to 149 all out in 36 overs.

Kerridge bowled well on a clearly good batting track, with Knight taking 4-61 to go with his ton, Banks 4-23 and Alex Grimes 2-8.

Kerridge travel to Saughall next week, a tough fixture, so 50 points from the last two weeks were much needed.

As ever the usual thanks go to the match sponsor which was The Lord Clyde Kerridge.
