IT doesn’t seem long since the last football season finished, but the new one is just around the corner.

Macclesfield Town’s fixtures for the new season have just been released and the Silkmen will begin the campaign with a trip to Wrexham on August 5 which will see Shwan Jalal, Chris Holroyd and Jack Mackreth all face their former employers.

They then face back-to-back home games with Hartlepool and Bromley before trips to Sutton and Gateshead. They then end August with a home game against Dover and a Bank Holiday Monday trip to Chester.

All the team’s fixtures, along with ticket details, will shortly be in the What’s On guide of our website www. canalsideradio.net.

We, as Macclesfield’s only local radio station, will be providing updates, both on air and on our website, of all things happening at Macclesfield Town FC.

Our volunteers will be attending a fans forum on Wednesday, July 12, when the management team of John Askey and Steve Watson, and chairman Mark Blower, will be hosting the annual kit launch and will be talking about their plans for the forthcoming season.

Listen out for Nick Wright on the breakfast show to hear him interviewing Jon Smart from the Silkmen Supporters Trust who will be giving the supporters’ view of developments at the Moss Rose and will provide a pre- and post-match analysis of all the games. We will also be interviewing the behind the scenes people at the club, so if there’s anything you want to know about what’s happening set your radio to 102.8FM or listen live via the website.

We also give coverage to some of the lesser known sports organisations in the area and our What’s On guide will give details of fixtures for all local cricket, football, and rugby teams.

If you run, or are a member of a local sports club and would like to raise its profile, or tell us about any fundraising events you are organising, get in touch with us. Our website will give you details of how you can contact us.
