King’s event taped up by office team
HEATON Office Solutions had the King’s School’s annual bursary fund golf day taped up with a superb score of 90 points to pip veteran Ron Smart and his men on a card count back.
The Merseyside team are based in Liverpool with a branch in Macclesfield and have been suppliers to the King’s School for many years.
Heaton’s team skipper Danny Young, who normally plays his golf on a series of top Wirral links courses, said: “We’ve played in the last four events and have improved bit by bit each year as we get to know the many and varied challenges of this superb Macclesfield course.
“We couldn’t be more happy to win but much more importantly to be part of this fantastic fund raising effort.”
The event, which has been nurtured by the hugely popular King’s former pupil and ex-rugby league professional Alan McInnes, has now raised over £30,000 in total helping to build the King’s Bursary fund which now stands at around £800,000.
King’s Headmaster Dr. Simon Hyde said: “The Golf Day is a wonderful fundraiser for the Bursary scheme, which enables local children the opportunity of a King’s education and from I what I can see also allows former pupils to renew the competitive instincts they developed on our playing fields.”
King’s offers a range of bursaries for local children applying to the school for 11+ and Sixth Form places.
The annual golf day is one of the major fundraising events of the year and receives huge support from a range of sponsors and local businesses.
