Recorders to star at sum­mer con­cert

THE Mac­cles­field Branch of the So­ci­ety of Recorder Play­ers will stage their fourth con­cert at St Peter’s Church, Prest­bury as part of the Prest­bury Sum­mer Mu­sic Con­certs.

‘Il flauto dolce – Mu­sic for Recorders’ takes place on Sun­day, July 30, start­ing at 3pm, with pieces by De Vois, Pur­cell and Han­del, as well as English madri­gals and an ar­range­ment of Henry Wood’s ‘Fan­ta­sia on Bri­tish Sea Songs’.

Ad­mis­sion is free, with a char­ity col­lec­tion.

Af­ter­noon tea is avail­able in the church rooms af­ter the con­cert.

The group meets monthly at Prest­bury Methodist Church typ­i­cally play­ing 4+ part mu­sic on so­prano, alto, tenor, bass and great bass recorders and wel­comes new play­ers of all abil­i­ties.
