Rams contest
Ryan Lloyd – there were some good performances. It would be wrong to pick any individuals out because you could go through the whole team.
“They did very well against a side that will be near the top of the Championship at the end of the season. There were no injuries which is the main thing at this stage of preseason. We didn’t want to give anyone more than 50 or so minutes, with another good game to come on Tuesday.”
Despite the result there were plenty of positives to take from the game against higher level opposition.
“At one stage or another Derby had a near fullstrength side out. I think Derby would have enjoyed that, we are a team that tries to play as well, and go through the thirds in the first half especially.”
On the signings of Tyrone Marsh and Elliott Durrell, Watson added: “I think they will both be good players, because of the players we had certainly in the second half, players were playing out of position which we couldn’t really do much about. We just wanted to get minutes under their belt.
“I think he (Durrell) spoke well in his interview, he stated that this is the type of team, and style of football that suit him, and we can take that as a feather in our cap because we do try to play good football and at times in both halves when we got in and around their box we’ve got players to do that – like young Koby (Arthur) who I had at Birmingham, he’s a real live wire, he’d be a great acquisition if we can hopefully sort something out.“
