Wilson keen to develop winning habit

-

MANAGER John Askey was quick to move for forward Scott Wilson in the transfer window, as the striker became one of the club’s first signings of the summer.

Wilson spent last season with Eastleigh before joining the Silkmen on a one-year- deal. Before Eastleigh, the pacy striker had spent time at WestonSuper-Mare where he scored 24 goals in 42 appearances.

And he made an impressive bow in the weekend’s game against Derby County at the Moss Rose and while the Silkmen emerged with great credit from the game, he is keen to develop a winning habit.

“The result was not important but obviously we don’t want to lose every pre-season game. Coming into the season you want to win as much as you can and get that winning mentality,” he said.

With a number of new faces joining Macclesfield this summer John Askey’s rebuild is well under way. There are still a few spaces that need to be filled ahead of the season opener against Wrexham but Wilson says that he and the new faces at Moss Rose have settled in well.

“I enjoy it up here, everybody’s welcomed me. I know there’s a lot of new lads but we’ve intergrated as a group quite well.”
