Har­ri­ers among the medals

STU­DENTS from Mac­cles­field made the trip to Alexan­der Sta­dium in Birm­ing­ham to rep­re­sent Cheshire in in the English Schools’ Ath­letic As­so­ci­a­tion Track & Field Cham­pi­onships ear­lier this month.

The event brings to­gether the best young ath­letes in each county in Eng­land to com­pete for the hon­our of be­ing the best ath­lete in the coun­try at their event.

Sian Hes­lop, 14, from Fallibroome Academy won sil­ver in the ju­nior 1500m. Ja­cob Thomp­son, 14, a stu­dent at Tyther­ing­ton School, won bronze in the ju­nior high jump event. Both Sian and Ja­cob are mem­bers of Mac­cles­field Har­ri­ers & Ath­let­ics Club.

Mor­gan Frith, 14, (Fallibroome Academy) nar­rowly missed out on a medal in the ju­nior long jump (fourth place).

Lara Craw­ford (Fallibroome Academy) rep­re­sented Cheshire in the ju­nior 1,500m, Chloe New­big­ging (Tyther­ing­ton School) in the in­ter­me­di­ate 300m and Sarah Stock­man (Kings School) in the se­nior 800m.

Ja­cob Thomp­son tak­ing bronze at Birm­ing­ham with a jump of 1.84m
