Harriers among the medals
STUDENTS from Macclesfield made the trip to Alexander Stadium in Birmingham to represent Cheshire in in the English Schools’ Athletic Association Track & Field Championships earlier this month.
The event brings together the best young athletes in each county in England to compete for the honour of being the best athlete in the country at their event.
Sian Heslop, 14, from Fallibroome Academy won silver in the junior 1500m. Jacob Thompson, 14, a student at Tytherington School, won bronze in the junior high jump event. Both Sian and Jacob are members of Macclesfield Harriers & Athletics Club.
Morgan Frith, 14, (Fallibroome Academy) narrowly missed out on a medal in the junior long jump (fourth place).
Lara Crawford (Fallibroome Academy) represented Cheshire in the junior 1,500m, Chloe Newbigging (Tytherington School) in the intermediate 300m and Sarah Stockman (Kings School) in the senior 800m.
