Thumbs up for family landscapers
A TALENTED landscaper has earned an award at a prestigious flower show.
Rick Gibbons, from Gibbons Landscapes Ltd, based in Macclesfield, won the RHS Silver Gilt Award at the RHS Tatton Show.
It was awarded to his garden - Arley’s Thyme to Retreat - which was installed for one of the back to back gardens at the show. It included an angled yorkstone path along with small pebble areas to house creeping herbs and using reclaimed materials from Arley Hall and Gardens.
As a feature, Ric used an antique cheese stone, so-called because the circle and cross are shallow drainage channels that were to direct the excess whey out of the cheeses.
Ric said: “It was nice to use the cheese stone as it really ties the garden to Cheshire. It made the paving that bit more special. We were really proud, it’s the first time we have worked on a back to back garden and to achieve a silver gilt is amazing.”
Ric has worked for his father’s company, Paul Gibbons Landscapes Ltd, since qualifying from Reaseheath College in 2004.
Last year he enjoyed working on one of the Cheshire Gardens of Distinction for the first time, and after the award this year he is looking forward to future creative projects.
Paul Gibbons Landscapes Ltd was established in 1988, and is a family run business based in Macclesfield that provides paving and landscaping services throughout Cheshire.
