are relinquishing their responsibility of the hall.

Interested parties will soon be interviewed and if a successful bidder for the lease is found AIR and other users could find themselves without a hall.

As we have circa 700 members this would be devastating for our society.

CEC pay lip service to care and support for adults.

According to their website Ageing well in Cheshire we have the fastest growing aging population in the North West and yet they are taking away our main venue which supports these people. Liz Welton Chairwoman Of AIR LAST week’s Express provided further ample evidence that Cheshire East is a council mired in scandal.

Having once been a proud member of the old Borough Council I’m sad to see the administration which now represents us being repeatedly held up to ridicule in the “Rotten Boroughs” column of the satirical magazine “Private Eye”.

The Secretary Of State for Local Government should grant the independent enquiry petitioners have demanded.

Had Cheshire East been anything other than a Conservative administration then surely he would have already parachuted in a bunch of civil servants to it sort out.

Pleas from the Council Leader and the acting Chief Executive that Cheshire East should fix its own mess must be ignored.

Piling blame on the former leader of the Council is no answer.

Power in Cheshire East is concentrated on the Cabinet and the Leader, severely restricting opposition scrutiny.

The rest of us face more congestion, while, as reported in last week’s paper, developers cherry-picking Green Belt sites, make huge profits courtesy of our Local Plan with no adequate road improvement contribution.
