Supporters toast success of lunch

-

THE ever-popular Ladies Lunch in aid of East Cheshire Hospice was a sell-out event.

Due to the growing popularity of the lunch, it is the second time this year that the event has been held.

Pennies and pounds are still being counted but it’s hoped the event, held at Mottram Hall hotel, raised £8,500 for the hospice, bringing this year’s total from the fundraising venture to more than £15,000 following a similar event in February.

“The event gets bigger and bigger every year,” says events manager at the hospice, Jo Boyd.

“We had more than a dozen stall holders and there was so much interest from businesses that we even had some outside the venue as well.”

Those attending were treated to a two-course meal and a fashion show by boutiques Fuzzy Goose from Bramhall; Damand from Congleton and Willow and then there was plenty of time for browsing at stalls selling fashion, homeware, jewellery and beauty products.

“We are delighted that demand is growing year on year,” said Jo.

And Jo puts much of the success down to the hard work of some of the hospice volunteers who worked behind the scenes for several months in the run-up to the lunch.

“Events like these require a lot of hard work behind the scenes,” she said. “Three volunteers – Sharon Ronnie, Ginny Blunt and Jo Dalton – worked for weeks to pull this all together and we can’t thank them enough.”

The team are already working on the next Ladies Lunch, planned for early next year.
