Haigh’s all set for the big stage
MACCLESFIELD boxer Jake Haigh is set to fight on the biggest stage of his career on Saturday when he competes at the Manchester Arena.
The 23-year-old is on the undercard of Anthony Crolla’s lightweight bout against domestic rival Ricky Burns.
It is a great opportunity for Haigh to showcase his talents, and continue to perform at the high standard that he has already set during his earlier fights.
Haigh is 6-0 so far in his career, with three of those wins coming by stoppage.
His last victory came last month when he comfortably defeated Darryl Sharp 60-54 on points after six rounds.
The supermiddleweight has also beaten the likes of Tomas Kugler, Mark Till, Bryn Wain, Mitch Mitchell and Josef Obeslo since making his professional debut in October 2016.
Haigh is one of a number of young exciting prospects that are currently being trained by Ricky Hatton, including Mark Heffron and Nathan Gorman.
Haigh is part of a packed bill at the Manchester Arena, with the undercard also including Sam Eggington defending his European welterweight title against Mohamed Mimoune.
The other championship bout on the card sees Robbie Barrett put his British lightweight title on the line against Lewis Ritson.
A number of British stars including Conor Benn, Marcus Morrison, Scott Cardle, Hosea Burton, Sam Hyde, Ryan Doyle, Gavin McDonnell, Charlie Flynn and Joe Ham are in action too.
Tickets for the event are still available and can be purchased direct from Haigh through social media or by visiting www.manchesterarena.com
