Lloyd’s quick to get off the mark

- STEVEN DALE

RYAN Lloyd was full of praise for the performance of his side after their 2-0 victory over Aldershot Town on Saturday.

The left-winger, who began his career at nearby Port Vale, opened the scoring for the Silkmen after just 20 seconds in the game at Moss Rose.

It was his first goal in Macclesfield colours, having joined the club from League Two Side Port Vale in the summer.

He was no stranger to the level of football, however, having spent the previous two seasons on loan at National League rivals, Chester.

Elliot Durrell later grabbed the allimportant second, extending Macclesfield’s recent run to four wins in five games.

Speaking after the game, Lloyd admitted that he was pleased to get off the mark.

“It’s great to get off the mark,” he said. “I’ve missed quite a few chances in the last few games, so, it’s nice to finally get off the mark. Hopefully more to come now.

“It was a good performance by us today. They’re (Aldershot), obviously, a very good side and have started really well, but we’ve turned a good performance into points today which is very pleasing.

“The second goal calms everyone down that extra little bit. We had a few chances to do so, but we probably weren’t clinical enough. That’s an area I’d like to see us improve soon.

He also reserved praise for the support of the Macclesfield fans throughout the game.

“The fans were brilliant again.

“I’m glad we gave them something to shout about today. It gave them a reason to get behind us.

“Their support is always a massive help for everyone.”
