TV interest has drone firm duo on a high

- RHIANNON MCDOWALL

ACOUPLE who gave up the high seas for the high skies have seen their business go from strength to strength.

Greg and Jinny Chivers, who live on Adlington Road in Bollington, spent 10 years sailing around the world working on luxury yachts.

But a passion for adventure film and photography and the desire to settle on dry land has led them to their latest business venture – drone imagery – which has seen them working with big TV productions including ITV drama Cold Feet.

The pair, who run LUNAR Aerial Imaging from their home, have now been drafted in to provide aerial footage of Manchester for a BBC documentary about policing, and donated footage of Manchester for the promotional trailer for Ariana Grande’s One Love concert in June.

Greg, 47, who is the cre- ative and operations director, added: “It is fantastic to see our footage appearing on the big and small screen and we are excited about the increasing number of enquiries we are getting from production companies – both for footage from our stock library and for bespoke jobs.

“The director of Cold Feet contacted us looking for footage of Didsbury and at that stage we didn’t have any so I offered to go out that evening and capture the footage they needed, they were delighted with the result.”

Established in 2015, LUNAR operates a range of multi-rotor drones with camera and imaging systems.

Greg, who is originally from Australia, is the pilot, camera operator and editor, and Jinny’s job is in marketing, and as co-pilot and back up while Greg is flying.

Jinny, 39, said Greg became interested in drones while he was recovering from a broken ankle.

She said: “Greg has always been interested in video and photography so when the first drones came out he got himself one. We were in LA at the time so we did some film courses and from there decided it was something we could do when we settle down.”

She added: “It’s going really well. We’ve been busy but we’re really chuffed to have had some footage on the TV.

“We haven’t had any jobs in Macclesfield yet but we would really like to get some footage around here, it would be fantastic.”
