Performance 1pm-3pm, followed by festive tea. What does it involve?: The perfect afternoon to get you in the mood for Christmas. As part of their nationwide tour, acclaimed musicians and performers GreenMatthews will be bringing festive cheer to Macclesfield Museums. A Brief History of Christmas is a festive romp through 600 years of Christmas, with music, songs and carols. Beginning in the Middle Ages and ending in the 20th century, their performance is a whistle-stop tour of the origins of our festivities, featuring multi-talented musicians, unusual instruments and lashings of wit and humour. Special guest Jude Rees will be performing with GreenMatthews in the charming surroundings of The Old Sunday School’s auditorium, adding an extra special touch to proceedings. Take a seat (recently refurbished with the help of the public, local businesses and supporters) and allow the talented musicians to transport you from Christmases past to present. The performance is followed by a festive tea, provided by the Friends of Macclesfield Silk Heritage. If you would like to join us for tea at no extra charge, please let us know at the time of booking to receive your special ticket. Tickets £10 (£8 Friends) – buy in person from The Old Sunday School Shop, or call 01625 613210.
