Captains’ charities the real winners from

WILMSLOW Golf Club were excellent hosts for a Corporate Golf Day which supported the charities of their Captain Pep Smith and Lady Captain Elizabeth Black.

The teams of four received a warm welcome at the club and enjoyed 18 holes of fantastic golf on the picturesqu­e and challengin­g golf course although they had to avoid some heavy rain showers.

The charities they were supporting included the Stroke Associatio­n and the East Cheshire Hospice and both Pep and Elizabeth were delighted with the contributi­ons made on the day which raised over £3,000.

The teams were mainly from Manchester and Cheshire but there were also entrants who travelled from London to take part.

Royles of Wilmslow displayed a collection of their fantastic cars and there were also tee sponsors including Leaders, Premier Group, Hill Dickinson, DWF Law, OnPoint Developmen­t and BASF.

Among the prizes were Robinson’s ‘win your weight in beer’ for the longest drive and dining prizes from local restaurant­s including Piccolinos, The Botanist, The Bubble Room, Oddfellows on the Park and The Alchemist.

The winning team were Calder Peel Architects who each won £100 vouchers for the Wilmlsow Pro Shop.

Medal action for Wilmslow’s men had Ian Mecrow in charge of division one with 71, one less than Simon Perry and Matthew Birch.

In division two Duncan Marr was the main man with 71 from John Barnes and Alan Mayo 72 and Bob Owen 73.

Wilmslow ladies played a two-division Stableford and in division one Anne Roberts was a clear winner with 34 points, four more than Chrissie Harding Roberts and Linda Smith.

Heather Coxson topped division two with 34 points to finish ahead of Helen Alcroft 32 and Fiona Woolley 31.
