Cap­tains’ char­i­ties the real win­ners from

WILM­SLOW Golf Club were ex­cel­lent hosts for a Cor­po­rate Golf Day which sup­ported the char­i­ties of their Cap­tain Pep Smith and Lady Cap­tain El­iz­a­beth Black.

The teams of four re­ceived a warm wel­come at the club and en­joyed 18 holes of fan­tas­tic golf on the pic­turesque and chal­leng­ing golf course al­though they had to avoid some heavy rain show­ers.

The char­i­ties they were supporting in­cluded the Stroke As­so­ci­a­tion and the East Cheshire Hos­pice and both Pep and El­iz­a­beth were de­lighted with the con­tri­bu­tions made on the day which raised over £3,000.

The teams were mainly from Manch­ester and Cheshire but there were also en­trants who trav­elled from London to take part.

Royles of Wilm­slow dis­played a col­lec­tion of their fan­tas­tic cars and there were also tee spon­sors in­clud­ing Lead­ers, Pre­mier Group, Hill Dickinson, DWF Law, OnPoint De­vel­op­ment and BASF.

Among the prizes were Robin­son’s ‘win your weight in beer’ for the long­est drive and din­ing prizes from lo­cal restau­rants in­clud­ing Pic­col­i­nos, The Botanist, The Bub­ble Room, Oddfel­lows on the Park and The Al­chemist.

The win­ning team were Calder Peel Ar­chi­tects who each won £100 vouch­ers for the Wilml­sow Pro Shop.

Medal ac­tion for Wilm­slow’s men had Ian Me­crow in charge of di­vi­sion one with 71, one less than Si­mon Perry and Matthew Birch.

In di­vi­sion two Dun­can Marr was the main man with 71 from John Barnes and Alan Mayo 72 and Bob Owen 73.

Wilm­slow ladies played a two-di­vi­sion Sta­ble­ford and in di­vi­sion one Anne Roberts was a clear win­ner with 34 points, four more than Chrissie Hard­ing Roberts and Linda Smith.

Heather Cox­son topped di­vi­sion two with 34 points to fin­ish ahead of He­len Al­croft 32 and Fiona Wool­ley 31.
