WHAT a great time we had last Sunday at the Bollington Christmas lights switch-on.

The crowds were out in their hundreds as they welcomed Father Christmas’ arrival in his vintage fire engine.

We must say thanks to everyone who bought tickets for the bran tub and bottle-bola, from which the proceeds will go towards the running of our charity arm, Canalside’s Phase One Training.

We will be at the Rams Head in Disley on Friday, December 1, and at the Farmers Arms in Poynton on Tuesday, December 5, providing the PA for their respective Christmas lights switch-ons.

While we are talking Christmassy things, our annual 12 days of Christmas competition started on Tuesday, November 29.

This will be your chance to win turkeys kindly provided by Barrows and Heathcote’s butchers in Bollington and TTS Meats in Tytherington. There will also be Christmas trees from Prestbury Plant and garden, mince pies from Celebration Cakes in Macclesfield, Christmas puddings from the Co-op store in Bollington, festive logs from the Tesco store on Hibel road in Macclesfield and meal vouchers provided by The Mint in Prestbury, The Balti Kitchen, Macclesfield, The Salt Bar, Macclesfield, The Poachers Inn, Bollington, The Mandarin House, Macclesfield, The Windmill Inn, Whiteley Green, The Vale Inn, Bollington, The Bayleaf Lounge and Indian Cuisine, Bollington, The Bulls Head, Kerridge, The Fina Bar and Grill, Macclesfield, and the Rainbow Café, Macclesfield.
