Wilson keen to keep the promotion push fired up

- SHELDAN KEAY

MACCLESFIELD Town striker Scott Wilson hopes his side can keep up their unbeaten form throughout the Christmas period.

The Silkmen are unbeaten in their last four league games, though three of those matches have ended in draws. It leaves them third in the National League table, just one point off leaders Sutton United.

Wilson got back on the scoresheet for Macc last week as he netted in the 2-2 draw at home to Tranmere Rovers, and he hopes his return to the goalscoring ranks can lead to an unbeaten run.

“It’s good to get back on the score sheet. I needed a goal as I had gone a few games without one, so hopefully that can continue,” he told the club’s official website.

“It’s pleasing to see I’m getting goals. I’m confident in my ability to get goals. If I get the game time, I feel I get goals, they’re going hand in hand at the moment so hopefully that’ll continue.

“It was a dramatic way to get a result against Tranmere last week, we were plugging away for the whole of the second half and got the point so late on we were happy.

“It keeps the unbeaten run going, we’ve started the season well and we want to keep going, it’s coming up to Christmas and we want to keep going.

“No matter where Tranmere are in the league, they’ll be a strong side. To show that sort of character against them and get a point is great, a point is better than none.

“It’s frustrating that we didn’t go on to win the game as even after the goal we had some chances that were blocked, but it’s good to show that character against a strong side.

“With the midfield we’ve got I’m lucky, they’ve all got great passing ability and I know I’ll get chances in the game and it’s up to me to take them.”
