Points mean most to Scott

- SHELDAN KEAY

MACCLESFIELD Town striker Scott Wilson says getting the three points was more important than his hat-trick in the 4-1 win over Wrexham on Saturday.

Wilson led from the front for his side as he netted three times to help the Silkmen come out on top in the match at Moss Rose.

The striker was delighted to contribute, but insists that making sure the team got the win is more vital than any individual achievements.

“I’m pleased to get all of them but more importantly the three points,” he told the club’s official website.

“For the first one, Tyrone (Marsh) has put me through one on one and I have taken my time and the goalkeeper has come out and I have put it past him.

“The second one is a similar position, Tyrone has got it on the edge of the box and he has seen my run from wide and put me in again and I managed to do a similar finish.

“The third one, I knew with the conditions that anything hit at the ‘keeper might be spilt and I got myself a tap in.”

Wilson also praised the performance of Marsh, and is happy with the partnership they’ve created.

“Me and Tyrone have a good bond off the pitch as well as on it as you have seen so it has all came to fruition,” he said.

“We set out to win and put the pressure on Sutton and that is what we did so I am pleased.”
