TRIBUTES have been paid after the death of former Fallibroome student Lucy Nicholls, a passionate netball player who worked for England Netball (website, February 7) Samantha Wilde: Lucy was a beautiful ray of light that will be deeply missed by everyone that knew her. I met Lucy when we were 11, a happy, friendly, beautiful girl that I’m happy to say I was friends with. TOP marks for Macclesfield’s maternity ward. The East Cheshire NHS Trust unit was given a glowing report from new mums and dads (website, February 8) Lisa Flynn: I gave birth to both my children in Macclesfield and only have good words to say. My daughter who is nearly eight was born after I’d been induced, the midwife that induced me remained with throughout. I gave birth to daughter at 10.19pm and Gaynor my midwife was still by side, she would go home until Emily was safely in my arms. The following day Gaynor popped onto the ward on her day off to see me and to check we were ok. I was blown away with how attentive and how lovely everyone was. I then had my son whose now two, again I had to be induced but his time things weren’t plain sailing! I was in labour for nearly three days so did see many different faces but when it came to delivering my baby boy Emily who had induced appeared to help with his delivery! I also had my community midwife Katy who came in throughout offering her support which went a long way and then Andrea who was by side for many hours. The aftercare of both babies was amazing and I can only ever thank the midwives for everything they did for myself and husband and of course our beautiful children xxx Lee Barlow: Most amazing people ever, can’t thank them all enough for their tireless work ethic and outstanding support during the three weeks my mrs and son were in there last October. There’s no other place I would have wanted them to be and I’m so glad we have this fantastic facility on our doorstep. Lisa Bellerby: I’ve had 3 children at MDGH... and my youngest would not be here if it wasn’t for the wonderful staff. My son’s heart defect was picked up at 20 weeks...he was born prem without any preparation as he was supposed to be born at St Marys! They saved his and my life and my little boy got the chance to fight for his life from the day the moment he was born. Three open heart surgeries later he is doing wonderful and we can’t thank Macclesfield enough. Anna K M Murphy: Had four babies there. Most recent one was my little boy in January. I had to be induced as baby wasn’t behaving himself before Christmas when I was in for a week due to him be- ing the wrong way round. All the midwives and the doctors were amazing throughout all my pregnancies. And don’t forget the HCAs, cleaners etc Who always take the time to make sure you’re okay and stop to have a chat. Rachael Shaw: I had both my children in Macclesfield, both by section. First was straightforward, second little one ended up in special care for a week. I can’t praise them enough, they were fantastic throughout with both x Jennifer Frances Glynn: Had my LG at Macc hospital in April last year and the care in which myself and my baby received was brilliant. Can’t recommend them highly enough, the whole maternity team do a magnificent job. Claire Underwood: Had two babies there 15 and 13 years ago and it was awesome then. Now live in New Zealand so its great to see this. Lindsey Anne Fuller: I had my daughter there August 2014 and staff were amazing, treated you with respect and my own midwife was lovely, couldn’t of asked for a better team x Claire Winford: Had two babies aged 14 and 11 ... amazing midwives throughout both births .. first one extremely difficult and in for a few days,

TROLLEYS ARE BLIGHT ON AREA

AS I walked from Tesco on Hibel Road along the Middlewood Way I counted 12 trolleys in the Bollin River.

They are a blot on the landscape, as is the litter.

Come on Macclesfield we are scruffy and come on Tesco. Waitrose invested in Poynton you need to invest in Macclesfield. Angela Wales via email

SOCIAL CARE WOULD BENEFIT

AS Cheshire East Council prepares its budget for 2018/19 I think it would be useful to try and understand just how much, in real terms, our council tax has cost residents over the last few years.

For the five years since 2011/12 Cheshire East Council froze council tax. Residents benefitted from this, eg: savings to a Band D council tax payer resulted in savings of £529 per property when compared with the inflationary index for that period.

Innovation and commitment of staff within Cheshire East has massively helped the council to more than do its bit in making savings to the public purse, however the growing demand for services resulted in an increase last year of 1pc which equates to a figure of £133 and this year a council tax increase of 5.99pc is proposed.

With the option to increase Council Tax by up to 5.99pc year, this
