Man faces trial accused of mistreating pet dog

A MAN is set to go on trial accused of two counts of assault and causing unnecessary suffering to a springer spaniel dog.

Anthony Parkes, 55, of Monsall Drive, Macclesfield appeared at Stockport Magistrates Court where he pleaded not guilty to all the charges, which are alleged to have happened on February 9.

He was granted conditional bail prior to a trial set for June 11 at Tameside Magistrates Court.
