Bollington’s calendar girls raise £3,000

-

A CHARITY calendar featuring nude photographs of 10 local women has raised more than £3,000 for Marie Curie.

The calendar, in which the volunteers pose naked except for strategically placed props, has been created in aid of Marie Curie.

It was the idea of the Jayne Blackshaw, the landlady of the Cotton Tree in Bollington, and Chan Stephenson-Spratt, who has been a member of the Marie Curie Fundraising group since her husband died from cancer almost five years ago.

In total £3,025 was raised for Marie Curie, which will fund 151 hours of nursing care in East Cheshire.

Chan said: “I would personally like to thank everyone who got involved in the calendar and for putting their heart and soul into making such a huge success of it.

“A special thank you Ann Belfield at the Village bakery with sold over £1,000 worth of calendars.

“Anyone entering the bakery bought a meat pie for £12.50 and came away with a calendar.

“Thanks also go out the sponsors, everyone who bought the calendar and especially the brave ladies for being part of the calendar, without whom it wouldn’t have happened.”

Among the women who stripped off for the calendar were Sue Wainwright, Ann Belfield, Christina and Jayne Blackshaw, Gill Coe and Daisy Borg.

Each volunteer got their own page, with a group shot for January and December.

Community fundraiser Jessica Herrington said: “I would like to thank everyone for donating to Marie Curie and helping to raise over £3,000.

“I’d also like to say a huge thank you to the Macclesfield Fundraising Group for all their hard work and effort, they are a fantastic team of volunteers that go above and beyond to raise vital funds for Marie Curie.”
