- RHIANNON MCDOWALL

AVILLAGE primary school is celebrating after two school watchdogs heaped on the praise.

Wincle Church of England Primary School has been given a ‘Good’ rating following and Ofsted inspection, and was rated ‘Outstanding’ in their Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools (SIAMS).

Headteacher Sarah Smith, said they are thrilled with the results.

She said: “All members of the school community are delighted that the Ofsted inspector was able to identify that at Wincle CofE Primary, pupils’ academic and personal development are equally important.

“At Wincle, the Christian ethos is very strong and evident to all visitors. All pupils show an exceptional level of courtesy and respect to one another.”

She added: “Improvements at the school have only been possible through a shared vision by staff, parents, pupils and governors.

“This vision has raised pupils’ achievement because it shares the drive for all pupils to achieve. The school’s journey continues and all governors, staff and pupils are already working towards an outstanding judgement.”

In a letter to the headteacher, Julie Barlow, Ofsted inspector praised her leadership and said the school is in ‘capable hands’.

She also recognised the improvements made following the previous inspection.

She said: “The leadership team has maintained the good quality of educa- tion in the school since the last inspection.

“The school is at the heart of the community and members of the community respect the school.

“Leaders ensure that pupils’ skills develop well across the wider curriculum.

“These diverse learning opportunities engage pupils and foster their love of learning. Pupils value their education. As a result, their behaviour is excellent.

She added: “[The headteacher] wasted no time in bringing about improvements across the school.

“No stone is left unturned in your quest to make the school the best that it can be.

“The school is in capable hands. You understand well the needs of the community, the staff and especially the pupils.

“Governors, pupils and parents value your dynamic and passionate leadership.”

Twincle nursery, which works alongside the school, was also rated Good by Oftsed last year.
