Committee to consider new homes
PLANS for more than a hundred new homes will be decided today.
Cheshire East Council’s Northern Planning Committee will consider three proposals at a meeting today (Wednesday, April 11).
An application by David Wilson Homes North West proposes to build 89 properties on the site of the former Chelford Agricultural Centre, near Chelford Village.
Plans include five affordable homes, access points from Dixon Drive, as well as 1,500sqft of office space and car parking.
Cheshire East Council have recommended the plans for approval ahead of the meeting.
The recommendation by Cheshire East Council’s planning office says the development will increase the number of affordable homes and boost the local economy.
It says: “The proposal will provide market and affordable housing adjoining an existing settlement where there is existing infrastructure and amenities.”
It concludes: “On this basis, the proposal is for sustainable development which would bring environmental, economic and social benefits.”
A second large development to be considered is plans to build 20 new houses on green field land opposite Lowerhouse Mill, on Albert Lane, in Bollington.
According to the plans nine of the 30 homes will be affordable.
Despite receiving complaints from neighbours the proposals have also been recommended for approval.
Officers say the site has been allocated for in the council’s five year housing supply.
It says: “It is acknowledged that local residents have objected to the development of this site.
“The principle of developing land (which is allocated for employment purposes) has been established elsewhere and on the land opposite (for 33 dwellings) and will help to contribute to both local housing needs and employment land without the need to safeguard this land.
A third proposal, to build three new town houses on London Road South, in Poynton, will also be considered.
The proposals are to be heard at Macclesfield Town Hall on Wednesday, April 11, at 10am.
