We’re sorry over meeting complaints - NHS boss
AN NHS boss has apologised following complaints over a lack of answers from people who attended a consultation meeting over the proposed closure of the Millbrook Unit.
Dr Paul Bowen, chairman of NHS Eastern Cheshire CCG, said changes would be made to future meetings and has promised an extra meeting would be held in the Macclesfield.
It follows criticism by those who attended the first event at Macclesfield Town Hall, where only three questions of 80 asked by members of the public were answered at the meeting.
The controversial event was the first of six during the 12-week consultation into changes to mental health care provision across Macclesfield and Cheshire East.
Under the plans, the Millbrook Unit could be closed with either dementia or mental health in patient services currently housed there moved to would be moved to Ches- to get answers to their questions.
“This was the first event that we held, which we have learned from and developed the format, leading to positive subsequent meetings in Northwich and Congleton.
“We have already given a commitment to holding an additional Macclesfield meeting to provide further opportunity for people to ask questions, which we will be publicising shortly for early May.
“This means there are two further public events planned in Macclesfield, plus events in Crewe and Middlewich, which local people – including users of the service and local charity staff across Eastern Cheshire, South Cheshire and Vale Royal – can participate in during the next two months.”
The location, date and time of the extra meeting have not yet been released.
The next consultation meeting scheduled to take place in Macclesfield is on Wednesday, May 23, at Macclesfield Town Football Club.
