Inspirational grandmother wins award for children’s Create Clubs
A CREATIVE grandma has been awarded for her work in enhancing children’s imaginations.
Jann Thorpe, who runs the Creation Station in Macclesfield, has claimed the Create Club Champion 2018 title in the Creation Station’s national awards at its Inspiring Imaginations ‘Unleash the Wonder Within’ conference.
Mum-of-three Jann took home the top award for the weekly after school clubs and holiday clubs she runs around the town.
Jann set up the franchise in April 2015 and since then has worked with hundreds of children in schools across Macclesfield with her Create Clubs.
She said she was overwhelmed to have been handed the award and that it meant a lot to the children she teaches.
She said: “I am so delighted to have won the award, it means so much to the children in each of the after school Create Clubs at Adlington Primary School and Bollinbrook Primary School.
“We celebrated with each child making their own certificate in the true style of our exciting art and craft after school clubs.”
This isn’t the first time the entrepreneurial mum has been praised for her hard work.
In 2016 she was also handed the Best New Franchise of the Year at the Creation Station’s annual conference.
Founder and managing director of the Creation Station, Sarah Cressall, said Jann has worked tirelessly in the community to inspire children.
She said: “Jann is a real inspiration to our whole network as well as in her local community, with her dedication and passion, inspiring imagination and developing creativity with so many Create Club children.
“Our networks make such positive contributions to their local community and really help children and families to be creative and have fun together.
“I am very proud of all of our Creation Station family, so judging the awards is really tough.
“Each year our 124 franchise owners are becoming more and more successful and the calibre is really high.”
