‘I am saddened that such an appalling tragedy has happened’
CIVIC leaders have spoken of their shock at the news of the young man’s death and have shared their condolences.
Liz Durham, councillor for Upton, said it was a tragic incident and wanted to send her condolences to the family of the victim.
She said: “I have been updated regularly by the police, about this tragic incident in our community.
“I am saddened that such an appalling tragedy has happened, and I would like to pass on my sympathies to families, and friends of those involved.”
Fellow councillor Nick Mannion also shared his sentiments and condolences
Macclesfield MP David Rutley also shared his thoughts with the families affected by the tragedy.
He said: “It is very sad that such a tragic incident took place in Macclesfield on Sunday evening.
“There is so much good work going on in the local community. I will con- tinue to work with the police, the local Council and community groups, to help learn lessons and move on from this tragic incident.
“I would encourage anyone who has any knowledge about this incident to contact the police and assist them with their enquiries.”
Fallibroome Academy, on Priory Lane, is close to where the incident took place and staff say they have spoken with police and parents.
Francis Power, headteacher of the school, said: “I have been in touch with the police about this matter and they have confirmed that none of our students were involved.”
