New name as business chamber opts to looks north

MACCLESFIELD Chamber of Commerce & Enterprise has been re-branded to reflect the wider area it covers.

The business network unveiled its new brand - North Cheshire Chamber of Commerce & Enterprise - at a event at Macclesfield Town Hall, with more than 100 in attendance.

Sue Bowden, chief executive, said the new name reflects the area the Chamber covers – which includes Macclesfield, Wilmslow, Knutsford and all the areas in-between.

She said: “Across Cheshire there are four independent Chambers and because Chamber’s are all about localism, we have all chosen to remain independent and becoming North Cheshire will take away the misconception we only cover Macclesfield and encourage companies across the wider North Cheshire area to join us, and join in.”

Guests at the event learned about the chamber’s future plans to support yet more businesses across North Cheshire and create a thriving and sustainable environment in which local enterprise can flourish. As well as the new name, the Chamber also has had a new website, built and designed by Big Brand Ideas, based in Macclesfield.

Jon Butler, managing director of the agency, talked about how membership of the Chamber helped his company when he started out as a fledgling business,and his role now as Patron cements his commitment to supporting the Chamber and the local business community.

Macclesfield MP David Rutley was also in attendance.

Speaking after the event, he said: “As the impressive turnout demonstrated, North Cheshire Chamber of Commerce & Enterprise provides invaluable support and advice to a wide range of local businesses, and it continues to go from strength to strength. There are clear benefits to being a member of the Chamber and I would encourage more local businesses to look into joining this growing and important network. I am very grateful for all the hard work that Sue Bowden and her team do to support the local economy.”
