Girls emulate Silkmen

- FOOTBALL

MACCLESFIELD Town Ladies FC U11s took part in the Altrincham Girls Tournament last weekend held at the J Davidson Stadium.

Spurred on by the success of the Silkmen the girls were keen to get some silverware of their own.

It was clear from the start that thee Macc team were in a tough group, up against Brooklands purples, Alty Girls, Notts County, Hartford & Brooklands yellows.

The girls quickly imposed their brand of passing and attacking football which was too hot to handle for the opposition and saw them progress from the group stages undefeated with three wins and two draws.

The stage was set for the final with both finalists undefeated going into the game. Both teams flew out of the blocks at kick off, eager to get that early goal.

With chances going both ways it was Macclesfield who began to have the lion’s share of possession and crafted a beautiful team goal thundered in by Natalia Nield.

With five minutess remaining Macc bossed the ball until the final whistle.

Manager Rick Broadhurst said: “Our Girls were awesome, every single one of them gave 110 per cent and never let up so take a bow Josie Broadhurst, Maggie Davies, Rebecca Thraves, Emily Davies, Lily Dale, Teigan McNally, Darian Beasley, Natalia Nield and our girl of the tournament Freya Williams.”
