Colleagues rally for charity
COLLEAGUES from a Macclesfield food manufacturer have raised £2,500 for a childrens cancer charity, and hope to add more to the pot as the year goes on.
The staff from Direct Food Ingredients have chosen The Joshua Tree as their beneficiary this year.
Tracey Aynsley, bolstered the funds by taking part in a charity swimathon, while at team of her colleagues took part an a relay event.
Cath Hough, from Direct Food Ingredients, said by choosing a charity of the year it helps put the focus on those who give their time to do great work.
She said: “We understand the importance of shining a light on charities which don’t always get the recognition they deserve. The Joshua Tree is a small, local charity which supports families through childhood cancers.
“The work their team does on a daily basis is truly remarkable and we are so proud of Tracey for volunteering to help raise money for such a worthwhile cause.”
The Joshua Tree, based in Northwich, supports children with cancer and their families.
Tracey said she was happy to give something back to the charity and thanked them for making her calm before her swim.
She said: “From the moment I arrived at the pool I was made to feel welcome and completely at ease by The Joshua Tree’s wonderful staff; it’s testament to their caring and compassionate nature, which no doubt provides an incredible support system for the brave families they help.”
Sara Wheater, Communications and fundraising manager at The Joshua Tree said their support, which will continue throughout 2018, is critical to them.
She added: “Charity partner relationships mean such a lot to us as a small charity. It has been a delight to have the generous support of Tracey and the team at Direct Food Ingredients at the start of our campaign and we’re really looking forward to an exciting year ahead.”
Tracey will also take on the Mighty River Weaver Dragon Boat Challenge, in July. To support Tracey, donate by visiting http:// northwichriverfestival. org.uk/dragon-boats/ dragon-boat-teams/
