Regan guides leaders Kerridge to win

- JOHN GRAYSTON

KERRIDGE played their first home fixture of the season against Lindow 3rd XI.

In a hard fought game played in good spirit Kerridge chased down the target set by Lindow to open their home account with a well deserved victory.

It was a win that moved Kerridge to the top of their league after four games.

Lindow won the toss and elected to bat. Kerridge restricted Lindow to 123/9 from their 45 overs. A combination of tight bowling and excellent catching kept scoring to a minimum and put Kerridge in control at the innings break. James Knight bowled 14 overs taking 4 for 37, Alex Grimes was was similarly frugal with figures of 3 for 42 from his 14 overs, supported by Adam Banks who took 2 for 29.

Kerridge feeling confident of chasing down a low score on an increasingly cloudy afternoon lost a few early wickets and were soon reduced to 35-3. However, man of the match Stephen Regan hit a calm 52 not out to steer Kerridge home with 16 overs to spare. Stephen was assisted with valuable contributions from James Knight (18) and Luke Wild (25), with Kerridge running out winners by five wickets. A special mention to the three juniors who played for Lindow.

Kerridge travel to Styal this coming Saturday hoping to cement their position at the top of the league and continue their recent good form.
