Dozens of tributes are paid

-

DOZENS of emotional tributes have been left following the death of Ian Schofield.

Described by people who knew him as a ‘cheeky chappy’ and someone who always seemed happy, Ian passed away on Sunday, May 6.

Since his death there has been an outpouring of emotion for him.

The fence next to where Ian was found is now adorned with cards, teddy bears and scarves.

Known by people on the estate as ‘Legz’, many visited the spot and left messages of condolence and tributes for their friend and neighbour.

One of the cards left on the shrine at the entry to an alleyway, which links Becks Lane and Devon Close, shows a picture of an ultrasound scan and said: “I love you daddy xxxx.”

Another emotional tribute left at the site read: “I can’t believe I’m actually having to do this, I want you to know that I love you with all my heart.”

A number of flowers have also be placed.

On a small piece of pink card attached to one of the bouquets was another message which read: “RIP Legz, Love you m8.

“I will always keep a piece of you in my heart.”

It is understood that Ian had lived on the estate for a number of years but was originally from Liverpool.

Among the heartfelt messages and tributes two red and white football scarves have been pinned to the fence.

One of the scarves which has names of friends and people who knew Ian read: “R.I.P LEGZ”

A friend of Ian, who asked not to be named, told the Express that he was a nice man who seemed to get along with everyone.

She said: “He was a good guy, always happy and smiling he would come in my work for a pint an a game of darts, so polite and chatty.

“He was one of those people everyone liked such a bubbly and kind guy.”
