Spectacular sunflowers
EAST Cheshire Hospice is predicting two days of sun throughout the region in September.
More than 550 bright yellow, porcelain sunflowers have now been sold and will adorn a variety of sites throughout the region on September 7 and 8 during the Sunflower Spectacular flag days.
The hospice has commissioned the sunflowers to mark its 30th anniversary and the beautiful, decorative keepsakes priced £30 each are selling better than expected.
“We’ve had phenomenal interest in the sunflowers and I’m sure they will make a stunning display to mark our special 30th anniversary year,” said community fundraiser Lisa Ball.
“We initially commissioned 500 but it looks like we will need many more.”
They will go on display at a range of high-profile locations in towns throughout the region before being handed over to their owners in October.
The sunflowers, which are the long-established emblem of the hospice, are being made by potters Caroline Tattersall and Stephen Graham of Poynton Pottery.
Made from high-fired, hardwearing porcelain, they will be frost-free and able to be displayed in gardens all year round.
Anyone who makes a purchase will be invited to leave a personalised message in a special online book and all proceeds will go to the hospice to help fund the next 30 years.
