Festival has plenty more to offer
AFTER a spectacular opening ‘big weekend’ the Barnaby Festival has plenty more to offer until it winds down on Sunday.
This Saturday (June 23), there is a family theme to many of the events centred around the Barnaby Lunch at Parkroyal Community School.
From 11am the school is the venue for a showcase of the work from both Parkroyal and Upton Priory children with professional Parkour artist Denislav Stoynev directing the high jumps and flips.
After the energy of parkour families can enjoy the Parkroyal Barnaby lunch made with ingredients the children have grown themselves.
Also on Saturday from 10am-4pm is a one-day celebration of comics and comic art at Macclesfield Town Hall.
Festival director Many Martinez said: “MACCPOW! is a truly unique event for the town, bringing together both local and international comic art creators. The event celebrates the medium of cartooning, comics and cartoon art.”
MACC-POW! will include selected cartoon screenings, live panel discussions and interviews with guests.
Children of all ages can also take part in drawing activities in the Cartoona-room.
On Saturday at 2pm there will be familyfocused fun with Macc Music Centre at St Michael’s Church hosting a Peter and the Wolf event.
From 2pm children will be invited to bring the characters to life by creating a mask, making a badge or dance like a cat, wolf or duck.
At 3pm the orchestra will play the musical story written by Prokofiev.
