Centre gets grant to help tackle mental health
A NETWORK which provides help to people across the region has been awarded a grant to support a scheme focusing on mental health.
Citizens Advice Cheshire North, based in Macclesfield, has received funding to provide the project for the next 12 months.
The centre on Sunderland Street was visited by Angela Richardson and David Briggs, (the LordLieutenant of Cheshire), from the Cheshire Community Foundation, who presented the grant.
The centre provides free advice and information to residents across the north of the county, including Macclesfield, Wilmslow, Knutsford, Poynton, as well as the surrounding areas.
In addition to providing general advice they also run separately funded specialist projects which are offered when their clients require it.
Will McKellar, chief officer, said Citizens Advice was vital to supporting people who need it the most.
He said: “Many people need some support in fully understanding their options and the possible implications of those options. This support is provided by our general advice service, where we help people better see how to approach a problem.
“Behind this though, are our specialist services, which are able to get more involved and act where the client is unable to do so.
“All of this help is available within the same overall service, all quality assured and all free at the point of delivery.”
