Pupils become good citizens

-

TYTHERINGTON School has achieved National Citizen Service (NCS) champion school status for the first time.

The NCS runs a fourweek summer programme aimed at developing employability and leadership skills in young people.

The programme includes two five-day residential trips and team building workshops, followed by the planning and delivery of a community project.

The Government contributes more than £1,000 towards each place which enables students to access the course for only £50 per person.

Headteacher Emmanuel Botwe, said: “The NCS provision has always been popular among our students, however, this is the first time we have achieved champion status by reaching more than 40 students who have signed up to take part over the summer.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank Si Valentine from NCS for all his hard work in helping us achieve this milestone”

Mr Valentine said they are ‘thrilled that Tytherington School have achieved champion school status for the first time ever’.

He said: “A massive congratulations to head of Year 11 Mr Pepper and his team of tutors.

“Their support enthusiasm helped reach this milestone.

“NCS believe the 46 Year 11 pupils who have received £66,700 of government funding and have signed up to our 2018 summer programme will have a unique experience while giving their CVs a turbo boost at the same time.

“It’s been a pleasure working with Mr Pepper and the Year 11 tutors and all the Tytherington School staff this year.

“Our collaboration has been a great example of partnership-working at its best.” and us
