Great War anniversary volunteers wanted
THE council is looking for volunteers to help with its weekend of celebration marking the end of the First World War.
Named ‘When the Light Goes Out’, the event will mark 100 years since the Armistice was signed and will end the council’s four-year Cheshire East Reflects programme.
The first event focusing on survivors will take place at Crewe town centre on Saturday, November 10, with a final event at Tatton Park the next day.
Councillor Don Stockton, Cheshire East Council cabinet member with responsibility for arts and culture, said they hope people will be able to get involved.
He said: “Since Cheshire East Reflects launched in 2014, it’s been wonderful to see so many people of all ages getting involved with the programme, either by participating in activities, attending events or through school workshops.
“For the final two events, we’re hoping to involve even more people from across Cheshire East as we commemorate the First World War through memories, performance and sound.

Staff and students would like to express their thanks to Cheshire Demolition as without them the rugby, which was the most enjoyed sport, could not have taken place.
