Podium finish for teen spa therapist
A YOUNG spa therapist from Macclesfield has taken second place in a nation-wide search for the ‘Spa Therapist of the Year’.
Lucy Whalley, 19, from the luxury spa at Mottram Hall, has been named runner-up in the competition, launched by hotel management company, RBH, in partnership with luxury beauty brand ESPA.
Lucy, who trained at the Oxford International College of Beauty, secured her place on the podium after her award entry and ESPA mystery shop score impressed judges.
She said: “When I entered the competition, I really didn’t expect to progress so far.
“It’s wonderful to feel so valued and to know that I’m doing a good job.
“I thoroughly enjoy my role, catering for a range of treatments, from manicures to massages. However, for me, the most rewarding part of the job is knowing I’ve made a positive impact on someone’s day – nothing compares to that.
“I’m delighted to have come so far in the competition and I’m excited for what’s ahead.”
Dave Heap, director of Spa and Leisure at RBH, said: “Our second Spa Therapist of the Year competition saw some fantastic entries from our 22 luxury QHotels spa properties, highlighting the wealth of talent here at RBH.
“Lucy is a shining star at Mottram Hall and fought off fierce competition to claim her place on the podium. She has a bright future ahead of her here at RBH.”
The winners were revealed in a glitzy ceremony this month.
The Spa Therapist of the Year awards was open to therapists across RBH’s 22 luxury spa hotels.
