STAFF at a care home are celebrating after being lauded for their level of care at a national care home awards ceremony.

Hollins Park, in Macclesfield, was awarded the Highly Commended title for Nursing Care, at the Care Home Awards 2018.

The annual event celebrates best companies in the long-term care sector,.

On the night there were 17 awards up for grabs and Hollins Park was nominated in 14 categories overall.

Judges on the night commended the Victoria Road-based home for their commitment to providing ‘personalised care’.

Hollins Park offers nursing care for up to 41 residents who have been diagnosed with Dementia.

According to bosses at the home, one of their main priorities is to ensure the team is highly trained in specialist dementia care.

The team members at Hollins Park were praised for the high level of care provided, and their attention to detail.

Bosses at Hollins Park have also said they keep on top of the latest technologies and advancement for dementia care.

The home recently purchased a Tovertafel, which is a ‘magic table’ designed for people with dementia, which staff say has already led to a reduction in some residents’ requirements for medication because of its calming effects.

Tracy Norbury, home manager at Hollins Park, said she was ‘delighted’ with and staff at the home aim to offer the best care possible to their residents.

She said: “We are beyond thrilled to have received highly commended recognition for our nursing care.

“At Hollins Park, we strive to create a sense of belonging within the home, as well as building strong links and support systems for our neighbours.

“Hollins Park is first and foremost the residents’ home, and we always ensure people living with dementia receive the best possible care.”

Tracy added: “We work incredibly hard to provide our residents with compassionate, person-centered care and I’m delighted that every one of our team members’ efforts have been recognised with this title.”

Residential care service managing director for Care UK, which manages Hollins Park, Andrew Knight, said the number of nominations the home was up for on the night shows the dedication of their staff.

He said: “I cannot begin to describe just how proud I am of all the teams shortlisted in these awards.

“The fact that we were shortlisted for 14 different awards and that five different homes actually took home trophies is a testament to the hard work and dedication of all our teams in providing the best possible lifestyle for the 7000 plus people that we support in our homes.

He added: “It’s fantastic to see this public recognition of that dedication and commitment.”
