Charity begins at home for birthday girl Amrusha
A KIND-HEARTED six-year-old celebrated her birthday by asking for donations to a children’s charity.
Amrusha Husain, who goes to St Alban’s Catholic Primary School, asked the children attending her birthday party to donate toys to be donated to needy children in the Carribean instead of birthday presents.
Amrusha, who holds the title of the ‘cutest kid’ in a UK beauty pageant, chose to make the donation as part of her role.
Her Dad Murad Husain said: “The Caribbean island of Dominica was struck by a category five hurricane last year, and still has a long recovery process ahead. There is a reservation on the island for the indigenous people, known as Caribs (Kalinago), from which the Caribbean has derived its name. Amrusha was inspired by the charity works of certain members of the Royal Family, as well as Miss Universe and Miss World, who use their titles as platforms to help others. Amrusha won the competition ‘UK’s Cutest Kid 2017/18’ in the Tiny Category last year and will crown the next winner in December, 2018. Her Majesty The Queen was made aware of Amrusha’s little project and wished her a successful event in her Royal Correspondence.
“The birthday party officially marked Amrusha’s 6th birthday and she invited all her classmates, requesting that they bring items to donate to the Caribbean children in lieu of any presents to her. The party started with a slide show on hurricanes and the Caribbean’s indigenous people, before proceeding to tribal face painting, Krazy Klub soft play, and bowling.
“The donations are headed to the Carib Council in Dominica this week, in order to be delivered to the school children before their summer holidays begin. The Carib Chief in Dominica, Mr. Charles Williams is very proud of Amrusha and wished her a very Happy Birthday in a telephone call.”
Father Peter, from St Alban’s Catholic Church, also made a surprise appearance at the party to make a donation.
