Supporters key to success: Pearson

-

JAMES Pearson says that the Macclesfield Town supporters will play a big part in helping the team have success this season.

Pearson has arrived at Macc this summer, strengthening the team’s defensive options, with the likes of Keith Lowe, Fiacre Kelleher and Jamie Grimes also at the club.

He’s looking forward to being back in the Football League, and has made it clear just how big a role the fans can have during the campaign.

“The fans are going to play a massive part this season. I’m friends with a couple of the players here already and they’ve told me how great the fans are, and they’ll be really important to us home and away,” he told the club’s official website.

“I think the manager’s very realistic with his targets. I’ve played in the league before and you never know what’s going to happen - come the end of the season anyone could be up there.

“I’m not saying we’re going to win the league but we’re going to try and win every game and give ourselves the best chance to do well.

“The mood around the team is very positive, we’ve got a great set of lads and a confident group as well. We can be successful this year, in whatever way people define what would be a successful season for us - but we’re really looking forward to the start now.

“I’m excited to join and I’m delighted the gaffer give me the chance to get back in the Football League. I can’t wait for the season to start.

“A couple of weeks ago I got a call off the manager asking me to come in and train.

“He said he’d make a decision on me and thankfully he’s made a quick decision. Preseason has been good and I’m looking forward to pushing on now.”
