Kerridge cruise home

- TOM HORSFIELD

KERRIDGE CC hosted Heaton Mersey Village on Saturday hoping to avenge their early season defeat away at Heaton Mersey.

Kerridge won the toss and elected to field on an overcast day with low laying clouds that looked perfect for bowling.

Kerridge got off to a fast start taking the first wicket with only five runs on the board.

Wickets then continued to fall at regular intervals without many runs being added. Only two HMV batsmen made it into double figures and the team were dismissed for mere 66 runs after 34.5 of their allotted 45 overs.

The wickets were shared between the Kerridge bowlers with all of whom bowled with control and menace never letting the HMV batsman settle.

Kerridge knocked off the 67 runs required to win in 11.5 overs without losing a wicket to complete a 10 wicket victory.

This was largely down to Danny Brown who finished on 49 not out unfortunately there were not enough runs available for him to earn what would have been a well-deserved 50.

Next week Kerridge play Lindow 3XI away knowing that a far sterner test awaits.

But having only lost one wicket in the last two games they maintain their position at the top of the table with confidence high.

Thanks to this week’s ball sponsor Miss E Newbury.
