Care home goes wild for fundraiser
A CARE home for the elderly opened its doors as it held a fundraiser for a charity in Africa.
Staff at Prestbury House Care Home held the event to raise £100 to go towards building a gym in a partner care home in South Africa.
They had been contacted by the South Afri- can Care Forum, who had reached out to them with a request to help set up a gym for the residents of Sunnyside Park Care Home in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu Natal.
The two day event saw staff cycle as many miles as possible on two stationary bikes, while residents and guests enjoyed a variety of entertainment.
The Leisure & Wellness Team and staff members decorated the reception with an African theme and had nibbles, cocktail and Mocktails and liquors.
Staff wore animal onesie and residents wore animal ears and cycled as much as possible.
Macclesfield Town Football Club also visited the home an brought their National League trophy to show residents and staff.
A spokesperson for Prestbury House said it was a success.
They said: “We invited the Mayor of Cheshire East and she got involved in the cycling and spoke to residents and staff, it was a great morning with the Mayor of Cheshire East and she really enjoyed the event. We successfully reached our target and residents, staff and families had a great time getting involved in the event.”
