Hall stands out for Prestbury

PRESTBURY were hosting Haslington, with Prestbury looking for a first league win.

Prestbury captain Steve Oldfield won the toss and decided to bat. Oldfield and Cameron Kirkland opened the innings, with runs hard to get in the sixth over Oldfield was out for 6.

He was soon followed by Kirkland for 2, so 10 for two soon became 15 for 3 when Cameron Graham was out for 1.

Prestbury were in real trouble, and soon were Abi Biswas, 0, and Aqeel Ahmed, 10 – so 21 for 5.

This brought Tom Livesley and Chris Hall together and they took the score to 63, with Hall hitting the ball all around the wicket – but disaster struck when Livesley was run out for 8.

Max Cowley Jones was out for 0, Chris Hall completed his 50 off 21 balls but was soon out for 52, and Paul Butterwort­h went for 0.

Soon the innings folded with Alex Calder, 0, leaving Finlay Calder, 1 not out.

Prestbury were all out for 87 in 19 overs when rain interrupte­d the game.

With such a low total Prestbury needed early wickets but the first wicket came at 23 when Moran was caught by Calder.

Prestbury didn’t have any more success until the score reached 73 when Graham bowled Ryan and struck again, at 81, with wicket of Gledhill.

With the scores level Graham got his third wicket – but with the next over the winning runs were achieved.

Prestbury man-of-thematch was Chris Hall.
