‘Her memory will live on’

-

THE family of midwife Samantha Eastwood have paid tribute to the 28-year-old - and said her memory will live on.

In a statement, issued through police, the family said: “From the age of twelve all Samantha wanted to be was a midwife. She had to work very hard to achieve her goal. Samantha may no longer be here but her memory and legacy will live on.

“Thank you to everyone for their kind thoughts for our family.”

Former Fallibroome pupil Samantha, who grew up in Macclesfield, previously worked as a sales assistant at Flora Home Furnishings on Chelford Road.

Owner Carey Curtis said she was a ‘wonderful and smashing girl’.

She told the Express: “I haven’t seen her recently but while she was a student doing her GCSEs and A Levels she helped us at the weekend for quite a number of years.

“What a wonderful and smashing girl she was and what a tragedy it is.

“She was a very, very lovely girl and we’ve only got happy memories of her. She was always happy, helpful, cheerful and hardworking.

“All the superlatives, she was those things.

“We were very shocked and it’s the last girl in the world it should have happened to.”

In a message published on the Fallibroome Alumni Association Facebook page, Rubery, Executive Principal of The Fallibroome Trust said: ‘The Fallibroome community and Alumni have been saddened and shocked by the confirmation of former student Samantha Eastwood’s tragic death. Samantha left Fallibroome in 2008 and went on to find her vocation and train as a midwife.

“Mr Power has written to her parents and sister, Gemma, to express our condolences and offer what ever support we can at this difficult time.

“I know her friends and peers will want to share memories of a delightful student who made an admirable contribution to society.’
