Vincenti keen to put Sky Blues behind him

-

NEW Macclesfield Town signing Peter Vincenti is hoping to put a frustrating year behind him and have a successful campaign playing for the Silkmen this season.

Vincenti has joined the club on a two-year deal from Coventry City, and is now hoping to kick-start his career after making the switch to the Moss Rose.

He endured a difficult year playing for Coventry, and is confident that he can now get things back on track during his time at Macclesfield.

“I’m happy to be here. I spoke to the manager over the last few weeks and I’m excited to join and be part of something special,” he told the club’s official website.

“At the start of preseason the manager got in touch with me. I’ve known him previously and we’ve spoken over the years, and everything he said appealed to me.

“I made my mind up that I wanted to sign and come here and play. Last season at Coventry wasn’t the most enjoyable of years and I wasn’t played in an attacking role, so that nullified me a bit.

“I now want to get back to enjoying my football and I think I’ll do that here. It’s a good time to be joining the team on the up, and I know some of the players so I’m looking forward to getting started.”

Along with his spell at Coventry, Vincenti has also played for the likes of Rochdale, Aldershot Town, Stevenage, Millwall and Mansfield Town during his career.

Vincenti wasn’t part of the squad for the 2-0 home defeat to Grimsby Town on Saturday, but he is hoping to quickly become a vital part of the team.

“I’d have loved to have been part of the game on Saturday but first and foremost I have to prove myself to the manager and the players,” he said.

“Macclesfield have been out of the Football League for a while so for that team to get back into the Football League was brilliant last year.

“I’m really pleased to be here with them and I’m looking forward to getting going.”
