Plans submitted for 30 home scheme
PLANS have been submitted for dozens of ‘luxury’ new homes in Bollington.
Housebuilder Hillcrest have sent in proposals for 30 new homes on Albert Road.
Described as an ‘exclusive’ development by the developer, plans include a mix of four-bedroom detached homes, threebedroom semi-detached, barn style cottages and mews properties.
There are also designs for a landscaped ‘village green’ with views across the River Dean and Peak District, including the iconic White Nancy.
Councillor Amanda Stott, from Bollington Borough Council, said the popularity of Bollington means new homes are needed.
She said however, there are concerns among some residents about the impact on local amenities and potential flood risk.
She said: “We all know that lots of people want to live in Bollington. It is beautiful and we need new people to come in, to fill the schools and keep the local shops going.
“We just want to make sure it is carefully managed because we want to make sure it is in the interest of all residents.”
She added: “There have been concerns in the past about flood issues. It has been raised in the past that residents are concerned as to whether the new residents would be happy in homes near the recycling centre, which is important to Bollington.”
Mark Massey, a director at Calderpeel Architects, said: “The designs for these homes have been carefully crafted with the Hillcrest team and will enable them to blend sympathetically into the fabric of the local area.
“The homes will offer a contemporary take on Bollington’s prevalent architectural style, being finished in high quality materials from the local natural stone and render to the dry-stone walling and mature landscaping. It will be another unmistakably Hillcrest scheme.”
James Payne, managing director of Hillcrest Homes, added: “Having lived in Bollington, I’m really passionate about the area and excited at the prospect of bringing our Hillcrest homes to the town.
“We design and build beautiful houses and ones that we will ensure are deserving of Bollington and this special riverside location.”
The planning committee will meet on October 10 to discuss the plans. If permission is given the developer expects to start building in spring 2019 with the homes available for sale in 2020.
